The Eagles (NFC East) endeared themselves to animal abusers by signing Michael Vick in the off-season, but the real news is that this team looks poised to mount a serious challenge in an always competitive division, where there are no weak teams this season.

The Redskins (NFC East) are a team defined by a meddling and hindering owner, but they shape up as though about to overcome the hurdle that is Daniel Snyder. The problem is that they have to get past the Eagles, Giants, and Cowboys just to make it to the playoffs, and those are even bigger hurdles than the owner.

The Giants (NFC East) remain the team to beat in this talented division. Manning has a new enormous contract to live up to, but he hardly has to do it all on his own. There are a lot of very good players around him, and this team will be at short betting odds to make it to the postseason.

The Cowboys (NFC East) are known as America's team, and that seems apt since Dallas always promises the world but comes up way short, seems to have all the talent in little battles but no ability to win the war, and is set up to fail once again in the 09 NFL season.
