The dust has hardly settled in the NEteller debacle and if new reports are to
believed, the United States Department of justice may pursue
PartyGaming and
888.com
in their quest to prosecute companies under the controversial Unlawful Internet
Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).
An independent new report in the UK stated that numerous "insider" sources
indicated that the DOJ may seek to "recoup profits made by the companies" before
their recent withdrawal from US market.
It is speculated that the DOJ may be after as much as US$900 million from PartyGaming and
as much as US$120 million for 888.com.
It is hard to see how either company could remain viable if the had to pay
out that kind of money.
The companies both entered into voluntary talks with DoJ earlier this year.
Some may say that the money to fund wars has to come from somewhere, and what
better than public companies that are licensed and operated in the world`s best
gambling jurisdictions....don`t worry if it doesn`t make sense. That was never
the intention.
