The concept involved in offsetting carbon is very simple. We all know that
Global warming is a huge issue facing our planet and our lives. Humans are
responsible for around 38 billion tons of carbon dioxide per annum. Countries
all over the world are starting to measure the amount of greenhouse gases they
produce, and many are starting to set targets for how much industries are
allowed to produce.
So what is "carbon offset trading"? Buying carbon offsets or credits is a way
of reducing green house gases by buying into projects that are aimed at reducing
emissions. There are many such projects and the include tree planting, solar and
wind power projects, reductions of chemical pollutants etc.
A typical server is responsible for an estimated 1.7 metric tons of CO2,
which we have offset through purchasing carbon credits.
