2006 World Cup Soccer Odds To Win Group H - 05-23-06
May 23 - Part 8 of our World Cup soccer betting preview looks at the odds to win Group H. This is an interesting group from a sports betting perspective, and this preview completes our look at how all 32 teams shape up in their respective 4-nation groups.
Spain is the seeded team in Group H, and their short odds to win the group reflect this, but Spain is no lock to advance to the second round let alone win the group. They will face stiff resistance from Ukraine and Tunisia. Saudi Arabia seem unlikely to do the same, but then again they get to go home to obscene wealth so the last laugh is theirs.
If you want to bet on which team will win Group H, and let's be perfectly frank doesn't everyone, then you should consider opening an account with Bet365.com, which is where we found the latest odds for this bet:
Spain 4/7 Ukraine 2/1 Tunisia 9/1 Saudi Arabia 25/1
Look for the Ukraine to play very well in the Group phase. They have narrowly missed out on qualfiying for previous world cups since independence and will relish the opportunity. They have a world-class player in Schevchenko and gel as a team.
Tunisia should also not be underestimated, especially in this group. They will be a tough team to break down, and will be competitive although an inability to score enough goals could prove their undoing.
Saudi Arabia players have a lot on the line. Their rulers believe in positive reinforcement and tend to reward the team with a Rolls Royce apiece whenever they win a World Cup game. But those rulers aren't fools. They know like we know that Saudi Arabia has no chance of winning a game at the World Cup.
