August 11 - The World Series Of Poker Main Event was won by Jamie Gold, who was sponsored by Bodog Poker. The 2006 WSOP champion went to the final table with a commanding chip lead and he completely dominated the opposition, personally knocking out 7 of the 8 players on the final night of play.

Jamie Gold seized control of this tournament a week ago, and incredibly he led all the way from Day 4 onwards. For most of that time in the WSOP Main Event he maitained a huge lead, often by a 2:1 margin over whomever was running second.
Jamie Gold is well known at Commerce, the largest card room in California, where he plays high-stakes cash games, but none of his previous results gave any indication that he was capable of this type of performance. He is a former Hollywood agent who is now a TV producer.
This year's WSOP saw record fields and the Main Event was no exception. This led to enormous payouts with the top 12 finishers all leaving with more than $1 million.
