August 14 - The average American who enjoys sports betting faced an impending crisis with the upcoming 2007 football season, namely where to bet on the NFL, College Football, and even the CFL if he/she felt like it. Online sportsbooks were folding quicker than Phil Hellmuth in a cash game. Then CRIS, the grand old man of sports betting online and the originator of NFL lines for the world, decided to stand pat and service US clients through Bookmaker.com.
This was a crucial decision in the battle between legal overseas companies and the protectionist, unconstitutional US government (can anyone tell which side of the fence I am on?) - Bookmaker.com was not going to back down. The good news is that Bookmaker.com continues to do business with the USA, and their 2007 Football betting guide arrived on American doorsteps free of charge yesterday for their clients. It can be purchased for US $5.95 or CAN $8.95 if you are not a member of the site.
