We asked their number-one rated college basketball handicapper from last year's March Madness, MasterBets, to share some free analysis for Insider readers. Here's what he had to say:
"There's a good reason why Cinderella stories capture the public imagination - they're not common. A George Mason-type run is unlikely to be repeated this
year based both on the law of averages and the fact that the top teams this year are well above average.
"Many teams could go all the way to the Final Four besides the obvious candidates (the four number one seeds, all of whom are actually quite vulnerable). Do not ignore Texas, Georgetown, UCLA, or Memphis all of whom are capable of going deep into the Tournament.
"If you are looking for value teams that could provide upset results a good shortlist would have to include the following: Davidson, Long Beach State, and Villanova.
"Teams from the Big 12 and Pac 10 conferences should perform well while it would come as no great surprise to see ACC teams struggling. Look for the Mid-Major schools to keep most games very close and be wary of laying double digit spreads from the second round onwards."
