June 4 - UK listed online casino and poker operator 32 Red PLC has made its
long awaited move into the sports betting market with the acquisition of Bet
Direct from Sportech Plc, increasing the group's portfolio of services and
giving them access to a solid new customer base...

he deal is worth £11 million plus any outstanding account liabilities of Bet
Direct.
Bet Direct is a mid size UK based bookmaker, with Internet, telephone and
Interactive TV betting services. It is one of the largest independent
bookmakers, and also offers poker, casino and fixed odds games via its website.
The CEO of 32Red Plc, Ed Ware, said: "It has always been one of our
objectives to move into the sports betting market, and the Bet Direct deal not
only fits in with our strategy, but gives us a much bigger customer database.
The deal presents excellent cross marketing opportunities."

32Red listed on the London Stock Exchange's Alternative Investment Market
(AIM) in September 2005, and announced in April this year that they would
sponsor the Aston Villa Football Club for the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons.
