October 17 - Hot on the heels of a TV ad campaign by Ladbrokes, the 888 online casino group is
the next big name to take advantage of relaxed UK advertising laws for online
gambling companies. 888 has announced a £6 million UK
TV advertising campaign.

Online gambling companies can now legally advertise in the United Kingdom,
provided that they adhere to certain strict rules (e.g. money cannot be
mentioned). "Only groups that carry licenses in approved jurisdictions may
advertise, and advertising will be carefully monitored by groups concerned over
problem gambling.
As reported a couple of weeks back, Ladbrokes was the first group to take
advantage of the new laws when it launched an ad campaign that featured various
sporting legends and celebrities.
The theme of the 888 campaign will be that "life is one big game".
The campaign will also involve outdoor media such as banners and taxis. An
example banner may be: "We've put another poster down the road. Red or Black?"
TV commercials will feature giant slices of toast falling from the sky with
jam on one side and chocolate spread on the other, and viewers can guess which
side they land on.
888 will continue to sponsor the Sevilla Football Club as well as the World
Snooker Championships as part of an overall advertising strategy that has seen
the brand become very well known in the United Kingdom and Europe.
