February 24 -
Looking around the Internet at the odds on this year's Academy awards reveals
quite a discrepancy between some of the sportsbooks, so if you are looking to
bet on the Oscars. You are well advised to shop around.
For example, in the "Best Actress" category, Julie
Christie is the favorite at most bookies. However, at
Sportsbook.com pays
you can get paid $4 for every $9 wagered in comparison to only $3 at most other
bookies. Odds of 4/9 look pretty good considering she is an overwhelming
favorite.
In the same category, Marion Cotillard (the lead in "La Vie En Rose") is
listed at 2/1 odds by
Sportsbook.com, and even better at
Bookmaker.com,. who has her listed at 2.5 to 1.
Ellen page is at 20/1 for the same award and Kate Blanchett pretty unlikely
200/1.
However, the "Best Supporting Actress" category has Blanchett
as an overwhelming favorite at most bookies for her role as singer Bob Dylan.
She is -110 at come bookies, and at 6/5 at Sportsbook.com, whilst at
BetUS.com, Amy Ryan is at 2/1 (compared to only 1.3 at most other bookies).
A quick glance at
Bookmaker.com reveals the following odds:
- There Will be Blood at +250
- Supporting Actor - Hal Holbrook for Into the Wild at +900
At
5Dimes.com:
- Daniel Day Lewis Best Actor at -1280 (vs +830 anyone else)
