Absolute Poker Responds To US Online Gambling Prohibition - 10-07-06

October 7 - Following the announcement of 888.com and Party Poker that they are to stop taking US players, another large online poker room, Absolute poker, today announced that for them it will be business as usual...

Absolute Poker is the fourth largest online poker company, and issued a statement that they are confident in their ability to keep providing the best online poker services to customers in the United States. The announcement goes on to say that they are confidents that they will be able to continue providing fast, secure deposit and payout solutions.

Absolute Poker is a privately owned, which in its own words allows it to be more "flexible and creative" - more so that their public counterparts. The release goes on to state:

"Furthermore, the Safe Ports Act passed by the US Congress on September 30th neither prohibits nor makes it illegal for any US customer to transact with AbsolutePoker.com and therefore customers experience at AbsolutePoker.com will no change. Our business continues to run as normal and our executive team expects to see the business to continue to grow in both the short and long term. We are exploring all of our options with our existing payment processors and ensure any existing or new customer that your funds are safe and secure. Indications are that many of our payment providers will be unaffected by this law and their business will also be able to operate uninterrupted and unimpeded.

We are confident that our business, and that of our partners and suppliers, will be unaffected because while the U.S. Congress efforts potentially could block transactions conducted within the U.S. banking system, many of our payment providers transactions are done within the framework of the international banking system, which the U.S. Congress has no control over."

The company said that it will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates to its players.
