AFC East Betting Preview Can Dallas Hold Off Rivals - 07-20-10

July 20 - Going into the 2010 NFL Draft there was no doubt that the Dallas Cowboys are the best team in the AFC East division judging by its results, offensively and defensively, but it divisional rivals have been playing 'catch up.'

The New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins have used the off-season - as well they should - to plug holes identified last season and bring in both new and veteran blood where required for the season ahead.

Of course, so too have the Dallas Cowboys, within reason. The old saying 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' may well have applied to the top-rated team from Texas this year, but it has also done its fair share of spring cleaning and hiring.

The Cowboys bid farewell to veteran offensive tackle Flozell Adams to make way for talented offensive tackle Doug Free. The powers that be believe Adams is finally ready to take his place to protect quarterback, Tony Romo.

Romo more than proved himself last season when he replaced injured right tackle Marc Colombo. However, if the decision to start him does prove to be a mistake, newly signed ex-Rams offensive tackle Alex Barron can step in.

The Cowboys used the 2010 NFL Draft to secure the service of ex-Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant, who should contribute in the red zone when required. Former Penn State linebacker Sean Lee will also be a great asset.

With these few changes, the Dallas Cowboys can be described as 'solid', a label most NFL teams only dream about. And short of any serious injuries or arrests, there is no reason why the Cowboy's will not dominate this NFL season.

Here are our AFC East betting predictions for the upcoming NFL season:

Dallas Cowboys
Win total: 10 and Over

New York Giants
Win total: 8.5 and Over

Philadelphia Eagles
Win total: 8 and Under

Washington Redskins
Win total: 8 and Under
