July 6 - Ahead of the new season, NFL betting fans will no doubt give the AFC South division more than just a casual once-over, considering that it boasts last season's top-rated Super Bowl XLIV runners-up, the Indianapolis Colts.
Even though the Colts fell at the last hurdle to a super-motivated and ultimately deserving New Orleans Saints, there is a strong possibility that the Colts will emerge from the ashes 'phoenix-like' to avenge last season's Super Bowl loss.
The big question NFL betting fans will ask themselves is if the Colts can maintain the kind of form and teamwork that got them so close last season? For our betting buck, the answer is yes, especially when you look at the Colts' offense.
Who can forget how well Indianapolis' star quarterback Peyton Manning seemed to blossom at the end of the season when it really counted, and how well he connected with the team's many talented receivers to put points on the board?
But if there is one concern folks have about Manning, it's whether he'll stay as focused as he needs to be this season, given this is the last year of his contract. However, being the consummate pro he is, he should be focused until the bitter end.
Perhaps the bigger question is whether Manning and the rest of the well-oiled Colts offense can escape injury in the coming season? Players of particular concern include talented safety Bob Sanders and skilled receiver Anthony Gonzalez.
Of course, despite not being the most widely used tool in its arsenal last season, there is vast room for improvement where the Colts' running game is concerned. Running backs Donald Brown and Joseph Addai need to pull up their socks.
