April 1 - Bookmakers reckon it's not just about winning the Masters and some
have posted some pretty silly odds on the much anticipated return of Tiger Woods
at the Masters at Augusta next week.
Following months of seclusion, rehab and speculation, Tiger Woods is getting
ready to do what he does best - win Gold Majors, and bookies all over the world
are getting ready for a massive betting market.
"We'll absolutely certainly take a couple of million (pounds) on it
ourselves," William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said Tuesday. "So far, people
are sensibly reluctant to part with their cash until two or three days
beforehand ... because once you place your bet you can't cancel it."
Bookmakers such as
William Hill and
Bet365 have Woods listed as the 4-1 favorite to win,
which is quite surprising considering that the last driving he did was into a
tree back in November. Tiger has won the Masters four times and
has 14 majors titles. The Masters tees off on April 8.
Phil Mickelson is the second favorite behind Woods at 9-1, and a resurgent Ernie Els
is third at 10-1. Typical markets at UK Bookmakers and
US
Sportsbooks include if he will win the major or if he will miss the cut.
William Hill is already offering 26 markets on Woods and this includes things
like: Will he have an argument? Will he throw a club? Will he break a
club in anger? Will there be a streaker on the final green? Will Elin (Nordegren)
be seen in the crowd?

Bodog.com also has a range of propositions on the Masters and Tiger Woods.
