This is the latest development in the long drawn out case made in front of
the WTO by Antigua and Barbuda against the USA. The reported that we allegedly
leaked was one by the WTO's Dispute Settlement Body. The case has been ongoing
for over four years and related to the
restrictions the US placed on internet gambling. Licensing gambling sites is an
important source of income for the island nation.
Antigua lodged the case in front of the WTO in 2003. They argued that
restrictions placed on Internet wagers by the USA was a direct infringement of
WTO fair trading rules and regulations.
"All parties were under specific instructions from the WTO to remain silent
over on the matter until the report is made public," said Cort.
"We've written to the WTO that while all parties were asked to remain
confidential in terms of the interim report, we have kept our side, but the US
has not."
Cort added that the WTO has again asked the parties to remain silent about
the contents of the report.
