| January 6 - Emmanuel Adebayor was honoured as the African Player of the Year at a recent ceremony in Abu Dhabi, and in his remarks after collecting the award he seemed to let personal happiness cloud his reason when he commented that Arsenal could still win the EPL this year. The latest Premier League betting has them at odds of 35/1 to 40/1.
Park Ji-sung, who plays for Manchester United, won the Asian Player of the Year beating out a field of no one else, really. But he didn't even bother to show up for his award and the stage belonged to Adebayor who said that "(Arsenal) started the league in a difficult situation. We shouldn't be 10 or 11 points behind the leaders, Liverpool, but we want to keep going."
We would point out that they have no choice but to keep going, and they're paid a decent living wage to pitch up and kick the ball to one another. The fact that they started in a difficult situation might have been caused by losing a lot at the beginning; it's not as though some mysterious hand placed them in that awkward spot behind all the other good teams.
The real Premier League betting shows that United, the ones that Park plays for, are 2.55 to win it all. Chelsea are 3.2 to lift the title. It is interesting that Arsenal have managed to beat both of them in the league this season, and they are capable of playing the role of spoiler for the remainder.
Arsenal are currently fifth on the EPL log, ready to strike against Aston Villa any week now. Villa have attracted some futile betting support of their own and are now 65/1 to win the league.
