Arsenal Crush Man City in English Premier League - 10-25-10

October 25 - Yesterday (Sunday, October 24) top football club Arsenal crushed Manchester City 3-0 to go into tied second in the English Premier League with 17 points alongside Manchester United and Manchester City.

Chelsea may have a 5 point lead in the English Premier League standings after nine games, but fellow London club Arsenal are doing everything in their power to catch up, and Sunday's game was a prime example of their efforts.

Traveling up north to watch their side face Manchester City, Gunners' fans may have been hoping and praying they would return to London victorious, but little did they expect Arsenal to hand out the enormous hiding they did.

Going into the match, it was not lost on either team the fact that for 18 months Arsenal has failed to chalk up a win against any of its biggest rivals - Chelsea, Man United or Man City - but that streak has now been broken.

And some of it was down to good luck - or bad luck for Manchester City - as barely five minutes into the first half, 19-year-old City defender Dedryck Boyata was red-carded and sent off for fouling Arsenal's Dedryck Boyata.

So with a man up and 85 minutes left to play, Arsenal wasted no time in putting the pressure on the Citizens, which paid dividends in the form of goals from Samir Nasri, Alexandre Song and substitute Nicklas Bendtner respectively

Manchester United also had a productive Sunday, when they traveled to Stoke City and emerged the 2-1 victors. Now that Wayne Rooney's future with the Red Devils is secure, it was nice to get back to the football itself.

And although the soon-to-be paid £250,000-a-week striker was on the bench for the Stoke game, his lesser paid replacement, Javier Hernández, took care of business by scoring both of the side's goals to ensure a 2-1 win.

Here are the complete results from the English Premier League over the weekend:

Stoker City 1-2 Man Utd
Liverpool 2-1 Blackburn
Manchester City 0-3 Arsenal
Tottenham 1-1 Everton
Birmingham 2-0 Blackpool
Chelsea 2-1 Wolves
Sunderland 1-0 Aston Villa
WBA 2-1 Fulham
Wigan Athletic 1-1 Bolton
West Ham Utd 1-2 Newcastle
