July 24 - Rep. MA Barney Franks' Bill 2046, the proposed Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act (IGREA),
has garnered renewed support in the Senate this week with five more congressmen
adding their support to the proposed legislation.

IGREA was tables for the first time in April by Frank, who is also the Chairman of
The House Financial Services Committee. Frank was very outspoken against the
Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) which was signed into law in
October 2006. His proposed Bill will provide a framework for legalizing and
licensing online gambling in the United States.
The new congressmen to lend their support for the Bill included Steven
Rothman from New Jersey, New York Democrat Anthony Weiner, Mississippi Democrat
Bennie Thompson, Michael Honda from California and Maryland Representative
Albert Russell Wynn.
Earlier congressmen who added their support for the Bill included California Democrats Howard L Berman and Bob Filner
as well as James McGovern, a Democrat from MA. The list of co-sponsors in now up
to 32, so its gaining support fast.
Frank's Bill has lead many senators to re-asses UIGEA.
The Bill will require 218 votes from 435 seats. The Democrats currently
controls 53# of seats.
