Now you can bet on whether Barry Bonds will be elected to Baseball's Hall Of Fame on the first ballot. The bet is offered by Sportsbook.com, and odds suggest that the juiced-up slugger will not make it to Cooperstown the first time of asking.
Sportsbook.com say that the chances of Barry Bonds getting in on the first ballot is 1/1, but the betting favorite at 5/7 is that he won't make it on the first ballot, which is the hallmark of a true baseball legend. Should he get in at all? Well, if Ty Cobb and Gaylord Perry can be there why not Bonds? The Hall Of Fame is not exactly populated by saints. They've got their fair share of racists, cheats, dishonorable sportsmen, and guys with less personal integrity than Nixon.
Barry Bonds will eventually get into the Hall Of Fame, but because of the number of media voters and the fact that the media and Bonds have a mutual and well-deserved loathing for one another it seems likely that they will "punish" him with this snub.
Big deal. Bonds will still break Aaron's home run record, tainting it forever. He'll still earn millions of dollars thanks to his unethical behavior. His continued presence in Major League Baseball is a shame bordering on a scandal.
