| January 8 - A sports betting coup is taking place as we type these words for the BCS Championship College Football clash between Florida and Oklahoma, which will take place later tonight. A move of 1 or 2 points is considered news in football betting yet tonight's game has seen a relatively seismic shift of 3.5 points in favor of the SEC Gators.
Florida opened as modest 1.5 point favorites prior to the epic series of College Bowl games, which have dominated sports channels in the USA for the past couple of weeks. In those games, however, the Big XII conference has played at a uniformly awful level, and of course Oklahoma is the conference champion.
SEC teams have also struggled, notably Alabama, who were blown out by Utah, but when the SEC have faced the Big XII they have come out well ahead (Ole Miss over Texas Tech). As such, the wiseguys and the betting public have piled on to Florida, pushing the line out to 3.5 before an even bigger push made the latest spread -5 points. That is a truly huge move.
