BCS Championship Game Football Betting Move - 01-08-09

BCS Championship betting

January 8 - A sports betting coup is taking place as we type these words for the BCS Championship College Football clash between Florida and Oklahoma, which will take place later tonight. A move of 1 or 2 points is considered news in football betting yet tonight's game has seen a relatively seismic shift of 3.5 points in favor of the SEC Gators.

Florida opened as modest 1.5 point favorites prior to the epic series of College Bowl games, which have dominated sports channels in the USA for the past couple of weeks. In those games, however, the Big XII conference has played at a uniformly awful level, and of course Oklahoma is the conference champion.

SEC teams have also struggled, notably Alabama, who were blown out by Utah, but when the SEC have faced the Big XII they have come out well ahead (Ole Miss over Texas Tech). As such, the wiseguys and the betting public have piled on to Florida, pushing the line out to 3.5 before an even bigger push made the latest spread -5 points. That is a truly huge move.

Mycapper.com, the only sports handicapping site that we recommend on OGI has posted a free pick for the big game, which we reprint here with permission from Mycapper:

Florida/Oklahoma: Bet on the UNDER for total points

"The total for this game opened very high at 73 points and has since been bet down to 70 points at most sportsbooks and even 69.5 points with some bookies. It is still worth a small wager on the Under at this level, but only a small bet because our database of stats suggests that the right total for this clash is 68 points, so it's close.

The total is inflated because of Oklahoma's staggering offensive output this season, but note that they're playing against some of the worst defenses in the country. The Big 12 teams routinely concede more than 25 points per game, whereas Florida has a stingy defense that could change the complexion of this game.

Our top pick for the BCS Championship game is on the winning side ATS. It is a rare "double credit refund" play that is backed by a 200% guarantee - $60 in your account if it loses! Get it now in the premium picks section right here at Mycapper."

BetUS.com, which won our sportsbook of the year award for 2008 provided the latest BCS Championship odds.
