May 31 - It's official. Celebrities are stupid. How else can you explain why they have affairs, get caught with prostitutes, get snapped doing drugs, get stopped for drinking and driving and so forth? The latest to hit the 'hard luck headlines' is Matt Lauer.
Lauer, who is (or should that read was) a highly respected American journalist best known as the host of NBC's The Today Show, has become palpable paparazzi fodder as a result of claims that he hasn't been able to keep his 'microphone' to himself.
According to the rumour mill, Lauer is something of a serial cheater and has had many affairs with his NBC co-workers. How much truth there are to these rumours will no doubt be revealed eventually, but for now Lauer and his wife are both denying the claims.
The newspaper that got 'Lauer Locomotive' rolling was America's greatest tabloid, The National Enquirer, which published a story on the celebrated host. Rumours are even spreading that Lauer had sex with a transsexual. No Matt, that wasn't his cell phone.
But whatever the truth - and the truth will out - Lauer is firmly in the media spotlight as the gossip-hungry masses champ and drool at the bit to find out if and how much of a pervert Lauer is, and whether his wife will start watching The Good Wife on CBS.
