October 24-
Bookmaker.com is "where the line originates" for sports betting. The spin-off from CRIS that still caters to USA clients is one of the great online sportsbooks around but the latest news is that they are branching out. Their sponsorship of the WPS Tour, currently in Costa Rica, is proof positive of this.
The World Poker Showdown arrived in Costa Rica on October 20th and competition will last until October 28. The event is being hosted at The Jazz Casino in Playa Jaco, and event coordinators expected between 3,500 and 4,000 players at the start of play.
The WPS tour is a lesser-known poker tour that visits some of the most beautiful gambling locations in the world, including the Bahamas and St. Maarten. The sponsorship by Bookmaker.com ties in nicely with some of their new features including a real-time online blackjack tournament. Many of the poker players will almost certainly get involved in that tournament on the side!
It's good to see some positive news coming out of Costa Rica these days, and one can only hope that the online poker controversy surrounding Absolute Poker, another online gambling firm that is based there, gets sorted out quickly for the good of the industry.
