Brits Prefer Online Gambling To The Pub - 02-15-06

February 15 - A recent survey conducted in the United Kingdom revealed that many Brits prefer online gambling to one of the cornerstones of British society - a visit to the pub.  19 per cent of respondents said they would rather play their favorite online casino game than go for a pint of dishwater with the lads (or ladies)...

A further 38 per cent said that they rather gamble online than watch TV. That comes as no surprise to the author (have you even watched TV in the UK?). 

Nine per cent of online casino and online poker enthusiasts said that they would like to give up their day jobs to play online professionally. So now are one step closer to solving the many mysteries of the world. We know that the order of things in the UK are:

1. Gamble online

2. Go to the pub

3. Work

A very healthy state of affairs, won't you say?

The survey was conducted by  InterCasino, one of the biggest online casinos targeting those in the UK that used to go to the pub and no longer want to work. Apparently 15 per cent of respondents gamble online in their underwear or naked. It is questionable whether I even wanted to know this (the images coming into my mind are nothing short of harrowing).

Around 375,000 UK gambling enthusiasts play online for more than ten hours per week, with only 3 per cent playing online during office hours. The most popular game is Texas Hold 'Em, followed by Blackjack, Roulette and other poker games.
