To start the game of Caribbean Stud poker, each player must make an ante wager in the marked
square. The dealer then gives each player 5 cards face-down. Players may look at
the cards they get but may not exchange information with the other gamblers at the
table. (There is talk about the possibilities of making a players odds higher
on web based gambling by exchanging information, but this is almost impossible). The dealer
then also takes 5 cards, 4 are
face-down and 1 is face-up.
The player now has 2 options : either to raise or to fold. Should he choose to fold
- he will hand over his cards to the dealer and who will collect the players' ante bet.
Should the player choose to raise, ne must put 2x the amount of his ante bet in the raise box.
Once all the players have made their play, the dealer shows his cards. If he
doesn't have at least a high card (Ace / King) he doesn't qualify. At this stage
he
will pay even money to all ante bets that didn't fold and all rise bet - push.
If the dealer qualifies, each hand is separately compared to his. In each
case the best Caribbean poker hand wins. If the dealer has the better hand, the
player loses both ante and raise. If the players' hand is better, he is paid even money
for the ante and the raise is paid as follows:

Please Note: Most casinos have a limit on the amount of money
that is paid out for a Royal Flush. That limit may be less than the amount a
player deserves to win according to the payout chart. Some casinos have a limit as
low as $10,000. This means that if a player had $15 on the table when he hit the
Royal Flush, he should win $15,000 but the casino would only pay out the house
limit of $10,000. This is an important reason to note when choosing a web based
gambling site. Check the limit for payouts before beginning play
and place bets accordingly.
Players who made $1 Bonus bets win an amount specified in the bonus payout chart
regardless of whether the dealer's hand qualifies.

Playing web based Caribbean poker
Different on-line gambling sites use different names for Caribbean poker - Cryptologic and
Starnet call it
Caribbean poker, while Microgaming calls it Cyber-stud-poker. The rules however generally
remain the same. The pay-table
varies between them. Cryptologic has stayed with the same table other than doubling
the Royal Flush payoff to 200:1. Microgaming has changed the standard table almost
totally. 2-pair pay even money but increasing the payoff of the rest.
The house edge in Cryptologic is 5.21%
The house edge in Microgaming rules is 5.01%.
