September 12 - The San Diego Chargers are heavily favored in their opening game of the NFL season against the Kansas City Chiefs. In fact the latest Chargers Chiefs spread is +4.5 points for the home team.
The Chiefs were slightly less awful last season and they should continue to trend upwards this year but it is an awfully tough ask to expect them to compete against a team that generally strolls to AFC West division titles.
Kansas City have added a lot of new talent this season, which they need desperately as they were poor on both sides of the ball. The Chargers are also fairly slow starters in recent years winning only twice in the first game of the last five seasons.
The Over/Under total points for the game is currently trading at 45 points. We feel that this is too high and recommend a wager on the UNDER.
We're also going to take a chance and play on the Chiefs here, since they are at home and will be pumped up in a division rivalry game. The Chargers Chiefs spread should probably be set at 3 points so the value is currently on the home team to spring an ATS upset.
