Chelsea Felled 2-0 by Liverpool in English Premier League - 11-08-10

November 8 - The biggest news from all of the weekend's English Premier League games is how league-leaders Chelsea were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool, when the Reds hosted the Blues on Sunday at Anfield.

While up until now in the English Premier League Chelsea have proven to be one of the most consistent and dominant teams, yesterday at home Liverpool showed a side of them that could well earn them the title.

Coming of three consecutive wins, Liverpool were eager to make it four against a mighty Chelsea, a task they pulled off with grace and skill. Or should that read a task Liverpool striker Fernando Torres pulled off.

Just 11 minutes into the first half, the moody Spaniard capitalised on a superb pass from teammate Dirk Kuyt, who returned to active duty yesterday after recovering from a recent injury, to put the home team 1-0 up.

Liverpool fans were relieved to see the return of the 'old Torres', considering that the 26-year-old has been in something of a 'funk' for the last few games. What's more, his goal only served to give him greater confidence.

Proof of this came a minute before half-time, when in splendid style he curled the ball into the top corner of Chelsea's goal, leaving the Blues' defence, including goalkeeper Petr Cech, completely off guard to go 2-0.

And despite Chelsea's attempts to tie in the second half, a motivated Liverpool prevented this from happening to see the match out the victors. While Liverpool have some way to go before they catch the top teams, if they continue to play they way they have been of late, they could set off a betting run at the bookmakers.

Here are the complete results from the English Premier League over the weekend:

Arsenal 0-1 Newcastle
WBA 0-2 Manchester City
Liverpool 2-0 Chelsea
Bolton 4-2 Tottenham
Birmingham 2-2 West Ham Utd
Blackburn 2-1 Wigan Athletic
Blackpool 2-2 Everton
Fulham 1-1 Aston Villa
Man Utd 2-1 Wolves
Sunderland 2-0 Stoke City
