2006/07 Record: 13-3. Super Bowl loss to the Colts.
2006/07 Verdict: The Bears had a lot of things go their way to get to the Super Bowl, but they did take every chance presented to them. A soft schedule primarily thanks to an awful division (that is still arguably the worst in the NFL this season) helped their inconsistent offense and strong defense achieve a glittering 13-3 record in the regular season. Their playoff win over the Seahawks could have gone either way, and they enjoyed perfect conditions to beat the Saints. Grossman has convinced no-one other than his mom that he is the real deal, although he does play that way every now and then. The defense was way too good for the dross that they faced in the NFC but the team is still only 3-6 SU against the AFC over the past two seasons.
2007/08 Mycapper.com Prediction: DOWN
The Bears may not win 13 games this season but they'll still win the pitiful NFC North. Grossman doesn't have to be consistent to beat Tavaris Jackson ("who?"), John Kitna ("better start praying now"), and Bret Favre ("Old Man Time"). The Bears do have some tougher assignments this season, however, and we can see at least 5 to 6 losses on their schedule. This has typically been a team that covers when it wins straight up (65-8-2 ATS when they win SU, which is an amazing stat) - but oddsmakers may set the bar too high this season. Bet them with caution, and be particularly wary of road games where bad weather is not a factor.
