December 29 - Sunday's NFL matchup between the visiting Kansas City Chiefs and the Denver
Broncos should be a very interesting one, because the Broncos need a win over
their AFC West rivals for a shot at making it into the playoffs. However, there
is no doubt the Chiefs will do everything they can not to let that happen. Going into Sunday's Chiefs vs. Broncos NFL matchup, oddsmakers have laid the
Broncos as the -3 point favorites (O/U 37), which is unsurprising as the
Broncos have the home advantage and are the co-leaders of the AFC West division
on 8-7.

Kansas City Chiefs are Last in AFC West
Even though the fate of the Kansas City Chiefs has been all but sealed this
season (they are currently last in the AFC West on 6-9), they may still have
enough juice left in the tank to make life very hard for the Broncos this
weekend. Spearheading a strategy to prevent their rivals from making it to the playoffs
is former Bronco and current Chiefs' QB Kyle Orton, who was waived on November
22 by the Broncos and replaced by Tim Tebow. Orton says he is only concerned
about trying to get his team to 7-9, but revenge must be on his mind.
That said, it won't be lost on NFL betting fans that although Kansas City is by
far the lowest-scoring team in the AFC West, averaging just 13.7 points, in
December Denver's defense has allowed an average of 30.8 points, which means
anything could happen on Sunday.
Denver Broncos Need a Win on Sunday
The Denver Broncos have just one goal right now - to beat the Chiefs on Sunday
and hope that co-AFC West leaders the Oakland Raiders lose their Sunday matchup
against the San Diego Chargers. But even though they've been laid as the betting
favorites, it won't be lost on fans how Bronco's QB Tim Tebow has been
struggling of late. In fact, last time out against the Buffalo Bills, Tebow
chalked up his worst performance of the season, which saw him throw three INTs
(a fourth was changed to a fumble), two of which were returned as TDs. Tebow's
errors contributed to the Bronco's 40-14 drubbing, the team's second consecutive
loss following a six-game winning streak.
Which means the pressure will be on Orton to pick up his game on Sunday,
especially with this sobering statistic hanging over his head: If the Broncos
lose on Sunday and Oakland beats San Diego in their game, this will be the sixth
straight year that the Broncos have failed to qualify for the postseason. Food
for thought.
Chiefs vs. Broncos Prediction
Despite Ken Orton's disastrous performance last time out, being so close to
making it to the playoffs I don't see how the Denver Broncos can let the Kansas
City Chiefs get the better of them on Sunday. With the home advantage and
knowledge that they have a playoff spot in their grasp, we see Denver
triumphant.
