| March 5 - While the economy, the world in general and the environment may be in turmoil, we can at least rely on March Madness to come around year in and year out, in which we can happily immerse ourselves in hours of top-level NCAA college basketball, while rooting for our favorite teams.
And this year's March Madness should be a real humdinger judging by many of the quality players that will be squeaking around basketball courts all over the country and slapping points on the scoreboard for their respective teams. Players like the Creighton Bluejays' Booker Woodfox spring to mind.
Woodfox is currently the 'head honcho' in college basketball as he currently leads the country with his impressive 3-pointer 51.3 percentile and 15.8 point average per game, which should go a long way to ensure the Bluejays - who are 25 for 6 - could be a Cinderella team at this year's Big Dance.
He's a player that has become a favorite amongst the many Bluejays fans, not surprisingly considering that he landed a whopping 82 out of 160 3-pointers he attempted. Consider also that in nine games he scored 20 or more points and in ten games he scored 4 or more 3-pointers.
Then there is the country's overall biggest point scorer Stephen Curry, who is the starting point guard for the Wildcats of Davidson College. This season he's racked up 28.5 points per game. But while many may not consider the Wildcats much of a threat, in Curry the team may have the arsenal to improve.
It might also be prudent not to overlook Cornell's Big Red, given that forward, Ryan Wittman, has averaged 18.3 points per game this season, helping the team win 19 for 8. If you remember, he put 33 points on the board against Syracuse, 28 against Indiana, 25 against St. John's and 21 against Minnesota.
So sit back, put your feet up, grab your popcorn and ice-cold beer and prepare for a month of March Madness.
