December 1 - The Colts rallied from an 0-17 hole to breeze past the Texans on the road no less. The Saints swatted aside the Patriots on Monday Night Football in a rout. Both teams are 11-0, perfect for the season, and headed towards an almighty collision in the 2010 Super Bowl. What would a Colts Saints spread look like? And more importantly, which powerhouse team would get the cover?
We asked the football handicapping mavens at Mycapper.com to come up with the Super Bowl line as well as a scenario of how the game might unfold:
The Colts would be favored in a game of this nature, probably by -3 points. The reason for this is not that Indy are the better team, necessarily, but that they have a much higher visibility amongst the casual betting public. This is a polite way of saying that suckers would instinctively take them so they are likely to be favored. The Over/Under for this game would doubtless be the highest seen in a long time for a SuperBowl game, and we would predict 59 points as the total the oddsmakers would come up with ahead of time.
As to the outcome? Well the Colts have Manning and a lot more experience in this type of pressure-cooker situation, but the Saints are the more talented team on both sides of the ball. It would be an epic confrontation, and based on current form the Saints would cause a betting upset by winning the game against the spread, and becoming Super Bowl champions in the process.
Both defenses are better than the average sports gambler might think so whatever happens take the Under here as well.
Of course there is still a long way to go in the current NFL betting campaign, so these two teams might not even make it out of their first playoff game, but so far they look the part don't they?

UPDATE (December 8): With both teams still unbeaten Sportsbook.com has posted odds on them reaching the 2010 Super Bowl. You can now get +200 or 2/1 on a Colts vs Saints Super Bowl.
There are other interesting Futures props bets on offer at Sportsbook.com such as: Colts vs Saints in Super Bowl XLIV with both teams getting there undefeated. The odds on this are +2500 or 25/1! Other bets can be placed on whether the Saints will have a perfect season, and whether Indy can stay undefeated as well. New Orleans are shorter odds to do so, as they have a softer schedule.
