This team has been mediocre for years under the incompetent reign of team president Matt Millen, the George Bush of the NFL. 2007/08 Verdict:

Last year our NFL prediction for this team was that they could eke out 6 wins on the year, would offer select betting value, that they would still suck overall, and that Millen would clown around and still somehow stay employed. The Lions did win 6 ATS games, and even won a 7th SU. The select betting value was all at the start of the season as the team faded badly down the stretch to close out the year 1-7 ATS and SU. They still sucked overall and Millen still runs the show, inexplicably enough.

It's going to get worse for the Lions this season because the team cannot defend, has no heart, and the changes they've made this offseason are unlikely to improve them in any significant way. Add to that a terrible schedule where they play 4 of the first 6 games on the road and it looks like another depressing season in Detroit.
