On Sunday the Philadelphia Eagles fly cross country to take on the Buffalo Bills
in what could be a pretty exhilarating NFL showdown, considering both teams have
kicked off the 2011-12 NFL very differently - the Eagles with a 1-3 record and
the Bills with a 3-1 record. But despite that, NFL oddsmakers have laid the Eagles as the -3 point favorites
as per the Eagles Bills odds. Here is the Eagles Bills line at

Perhaps the reason for this is that NFL oddsmakers know deep down that even
though Philadelphia are struggling to find their winning form this season (to
the chagrin of their fans), they are - or at least should be - far superior to
the Buffalo Bills, who despite winning three games on the trot, were left with
egg on their faces when they failed to beat the very beatable Cincinnati Bengals
last time out.
The strange thing about these two NFL franchises is that neither is where they
were expected to be by this time in the season. The Eagles were expected to be
soaring high with a 4-0 record, while the Bills were expected to be flailing
around the bottom of the League on 0-4.
The question is will these teams have a 'Freaky Friday' moment when they face
off on Sunday? What I mean by that is will Philadelphia manage to switch its
'winning Mojo' with Buffalo, and vice versa? Who knows.
The Philadelphia Eagles Need Their Mojo Back
What we do know is that last Sunday the Eagles should not have lost to the San
Francisco 49ers by a single point (24-23). Especially noteworthy is the fact
that the Eagles were leading 23-3 in the third quarter. Even Eagles' quarterback
and avid dog lover Michael Vick was stunned at the final result, and he should
have been considering he threw a career-high 416 yards plus 75 more on the
ground. Sunday's third straight loss means that the Eagles are last in the NFC East
division, and fast dispelling the buckets of preseason hype that surrounded
them. If anything, Sunday's game against the 49ers showed that the Eagles have
too many holes offensively and defensively, despite the 'star power' on both
sides of the ball. Unfortunately, DE Trent Cole will be absent on Sunday due to
a strained calf.
The Buffalo Bills Exceeding All Expectations
If there is one team in the NFL that is probably more shocked at their winning
start to the season than their fans, it has to be the Buffalo Bills. If the
Eagles were hyped up during preseason, the Bills were, if anything, hyped
"down". But then a magical thing happened. They won their first game, and their
second, and their third. It only boggles the mind why they didn't win their
fourth against Cincinnati. By halftime, Buffalo were 17-3 up and looked certain to dispatch the hosting
Bengals by the full time whistle. But whether it was a case of over confidence
or the (unfamiliar) realization that they were en route to their fourth straight
win that did it, the wheels fell off for the Bills. And although not as hot as
in previous weeks, quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and co were decidedly better
than the defense.
Eagles Bills Prediction
So if the Philadelphia Eagles can get their minds right on Sunday, and start
using some of their star power - particularly defensively - they could well turn
their season around. Similarly, if the Buffalo Bills can keep their offensive
sharp and avoid turnovers, they might just be able to prolong Philadelphia's
nightmarish season. Free Eagles Bills Pick: Bills 27-22
