On Sunday, in Week 6 of the NFL regular season, the Philadelphia Eagles travel
to face the Washington Redskins in a game that will see these NFC East rivals
battle it out. While the Redskins will be aiming to extend their NFC East lead
to 4-1, the struggling Eagles will just be grateful for a victory, to go 2-4.

Washington Redskins Lead NFC East
Of all the teams in the NFC East, Washington seem to be the only team capable of
pulling off back-to-back wins, and deservedly so, considering that compared to
all of their divisional rivals, they seem to have the strongest and most
consistent defensive front and defensive secondary. And interestingly, despite
the fact Washington are in the bottom half of the NFL in terms of points scored,
they are still racking up the wins. Perhaps this due to star offensive players
such as quarterback Rex Grossman and running back Tim Hightower.
But it's the Redskins' defense that has really caused NFL betting fans to sit up
and take notice. It seems that head coach Mike Shanahan's decision to go with a
3-4 configuration is paying dividends. Plus, Washington's secondary is both
aggressive and not afraid to grab every opportunity that comes its way. It has
not been lost on NFL fans that the Redskins' front seven have been able to
withstand just about any rushing or passing attack thrown at them so far this
season. Expect more of the same on Sunday.
Philadelphia Eagles Odds Plummeting
If the Philadelphia Eagles think they're having a nightmare of a season, they're
right. But they seem unable to snap out of it. Dubbed the 'Dream Team' before
the season started, their odds of winning the Super Bowl have plummeted, as they
have failed - dismally - to live up to all the hype and expectation. Even their
'costly' defensive lineup have not been able to prevent their slide into last
place in the NFC East division, and invoked real fear amongst their fans that
they may miss out on the playoffs this season. Fans have attributed much blame for the Eagles disastrous form this season to
poor coaching. Look no further than the promotion of offensive line coach Juan
Castillo to defensive coordinator to prove this point. Many considered him the
wrong man for the job, and judging by how he has managed to turn a defensive
line up packed with top-quality players into an incohesive mess, he has proved
them right. Offensively, quarterback Michael Vick must be fearing for his life
as his company are barely unable to protect him these days. And there is no
reason why the Eagles' should play any different on Sunday.
Eagles Washington Prediction
The Washington Redskins may not be the best team in the league, but they are
doing something right and the confidence they get after every win is only
propelling them forward and upwards. The Philadelphia Eagles, meanwhile, do not
seem capable of halting their backward slide, and seem likely to crash and burn
again this weekend. Eagles Washington Pick: Washington Redskins -1
