September 25 - eCOGRA, the independent online gambling regulator and
certification authority has appointed Karl Magnusson of
Pokerroom.com to its board of directors. Magnusson has a strong history in
the online gambling industry and currently works for Ongame, that owns
Pokerroom.com . The move has been welcomed by many, adding to the
independence of eCOGRA.
Ongame recently joined eCOGRA, becoming the first independent poker provider
to be certified. eCOGRA has 56 certified casinos that carry its seal. They
are known for a very rigorous testing process and laying down stringent criteria
for its operators to uphold.
"We are happy to have Karl join our board as he brings strong financial
management skills alongside John Anderson of 888 Holdings and Roger Raatgever of Microgaming."
, said Andrew Beveridge, the CEO of eCOGRA.
Editor's Comment: This is a very positive move as eCOGRA has often been
criticized for being a 888 / Microgaming sideshow.
