October 21 - On Sunday, English Premier League (PFL) football side,
Blackburn Rovers, chalked up a much-needed 3-2 victory over Burnley, to the
absolute delight of their fans who are increasingly fed up this season with
Rover's position in the 'horse latitudes', i.e. the middle of the PFL standings.

What's more, the Rovers came from behind to taste victory against a team they
haven't played in the Premier League since 1966. It was a momentous occasion so
say the least and despite the fact that neither team a threat to the top teams
in Premier League, it turned out to be a bit of a nail-biter nonetheless.
Supporters of both teams seemed equally surprised when Burnley striker, Robbie
Blake, put one into the back of Blackburn's net after only 4 minutes - from over
20 yards away! It was now game on as Blackburn looked for a chance to score an
equalizer, which came courtesy of midfielder, David Dunn.
With the teams tied, the fans were treated to some tight football action right
up until some poor defending by Burnley allowed Rovers' striker, Franco Di
Santo, to nod one past Brian Jensen, putting Blackburn one up. Later in the
game, Rovers' fans celebrated goal number three thanks to Pascal Chimbonda.
With time running out, it looked as though Burnley's goose was well and truly
cooked, so to speak, until a late effort by it right winger, Chris Eagles, put
the score at 3-2, which it stayed at until the final whistle. Although Burnley
succumbed to the Rovers, fans of both teams will agree that it was a cracker.
Unfortunately the same cannot be said about Monday's game between Fulham and
Hull City. In hindsight, I would have been better off watching the oil bubbling
away in my local chippie. I cannot stress how insipid and lack-luster this game
was, with neither team seemingly capable of holding onto the ball.
To say that Fulham played better than Hull City - considering it eventually won
the game 2-0 - is probably true, but only because it made less mistakes than the
visitors. It was a game of silly mistakes and a general lack of concentration
all round. It was a game both teams will no doubt be eager to forget.
Here are the English Premier League Football results from Sunday, October
18th and Monday, October 19th 2009:
Fulham 2-0 Hull City
Blackburn 3-2 Burnley
Wigan Athletic 1-1 Manchester City
