Nadal will now meet unseeded Novak Djokovic of Serbia and Montenegro who defeated Frenchman Gael Monfils to set up the quarterfinal clash against Nadal.

Croat Ivan Ljubicic has joined countryman Mario Ancic in the Quarters after disposing of unseeded Spaniard Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 to set up a clash against France's Julien Benneteau for a place in the semi-finals.

Ancic booked his place in the quarters at Roland Garros for the first time with a 5-set win over Spanish clay court specialist Tommy Robredo on Sunday. His reward is a quarterfinal assignment against world number one and top seed Roger Federer (Federer bounced Czech Tomas Berdych out of the event with a straight sets win). Federer is the prohibitive head-to-head favourite at Canbet with an incredible -3333 to take the quarterfinal match against Ancic.

The final quarterfinal pits Argentine number three seed David Nalbandian against Russian number six seed Nikolay Davydenko. Nalbandian is favoured at -159 to Davydenko's +125 on Canbet.

Quick Stats for the 76th French Open quarterfinals:

(1) Federer V (12) Ancic

Federer leads the head to head 2-1, having lost their first encounter at Wimbledon in 2002. They met twice last year with Federer posting two straight set wins.

(3) Nalbandian V (6) Davydenko

Nalbandian leads the head to head 3-2. The pair has met three times on clay with Nalbandian holding a 2-1 advantage.

(4) Ljubicic V Benneteau

Surprisingly, this pair has met twice before with both players winning one encounter. Ljubicic won their 2001 clash on carpet while Benneteau won their 2004 clash on Hardcourt in Miami.

(2) Nadal V Djokovic

This will be the pairs' first clash.
