Full Tilt Poker Announces Next FTOPS Mega Tournament Series - 04-11-08

April 11 - Full Tilt Poker ran its first FTOPS tournament in August of 2006. The series had 8 events with a combined guaranteed prize pool of more than $1 million. The tournament series has grown and grown and saw more than $15 million awarded over 20 events in February this year. The next installment of the series, FTOPS VIII promises to be the biggest yet.

FTOPS VIII starts on May 7th, and will be contested over 24 events with a combined guaranteed prize pool worth more than $10 million. There is a wide variety of tournament types, each hosted by a Full Tilt Poker Pro. The Main Even will have a guaranteed prize pool of $2 million, with a $2,500 buy-in conducted over 2 days. There e will apparently also be three mystery tournaments.

The site will run a variety of Satellite Challenge tournaments. The leader board will be kept up to date at the Full Tilt website, with video highlights from each final table with commentary from the Full Tilt pros

The prize structure for all tournaments also have some interesting additions this time around. Every player making a final table in any of the tournaments will receive a limited-edition FTOPS jacket. Winners of the events will also get a gold FTOPS jersey, a gold jersey avatar for use on the Full Tilt Poker site and an entry to the FTOPS Season II Tournament of Champions.

50 players already became FTOPS champions this year. and another 24 will be added. Full Tilt have also announced and exclusive tournament for the FTOPS V, VI, VII and VIII winners who will compete for a free $10K WSOP* Main Event seat.

In the latest stats, Ireland based FullTiltPoker.com, had over 8200 cash players active which has recently peaked at 9,732 concurrent players and a has a weekly average of more than 7,000 which makes it the second biggest poker room behind Poker Stars.
