July 6 - All online poker rooms sponsor pros to endorse their product, but none is reaping the rewards from this marketing strategy quite like Full Tilt Poker. Two of their poker players, Rafe Furst and Mark Vos, have already won bracelets at the 2006 World Series Of Poker.
We're only nine events deep at the WSOP and it's clear that online poker players are now at the vanguard of the world's best. Furst and Vos both make their money playing high-stakes online poker. Vos, an Australian phenom originally from South Africa, plays under the name "PokerBok" and can be found crushing opponents at $50/$100 NL cash games. Furst writes numerous poker strategy articles for Full Tilt players.
This is an amazing turn of events when you consider the other poker pros that endorse Full Tilt who haven't won yet at the WSOP. Names like Phil Ivey, John Juanda, and Howard Lederer spring to mind. And we're not even mentioning Chris Ferguson or Erick Lindgren.
The "celebrity" poker pros, and granted these celebs are the world's elite poker players, haven't even kicked into high gear yet. It goes to show that Full Tilt Poker is in many ways the new Poker Stars - the ideal online training ground that prepares the lucky few to compete in and now win the toughest poker tournaments in the world - the World Series Of Poker.
