September 20 - Some good old government red tape has stalled renewed
attempts to block online gambling.
Senator. Jon Kyl, of Arizona vowed to continue his efforts. "We will continue
and it will become law at some stage or another", said Kyl according to Reuters
on September 15. "We see no reason why we can't move ahead."
Kyl tried to attach his Bill to an annual spending bill. A Democrat objected
and said the matter was unrelated and could not be attached to the matter under
consideration.
The current amendment was not approved in Senate after much debate. Kyl's
proposal will require banks and credit card companies to stop the processing of
payments for online gambling sites. This will include many forms of online
gambling, including pari-mutuel horse racing betting.
The amendments was essentially killed.
