Sic Bo, as the name suggests, is a dice game of Oriental origin. It is played
with three dice, as opposed to traditional dice games like Craps, which use two
dice. The betting system is a lot simpler than that of Craps, which makes it an
easier game to learn, although Sic Bo does not enjoy as much popularity as Craps
does, except of course in the East. It can however be found in most casinos,
both land-based and online. Here is an overview of how to play Sic Bo.
The betting board shows the various dice combinations that are possible, and
bets are placed directly on the board, in the same way as roulette. You can bet
on a single die, a combination of two of the dice, or on three dice
combinations. You can also bet on two or three of the same numbers coming up in
combination. Each of these combinations is represented graphically on the
betting board. The dice are then rolled and you win or lose your bets according
to the outcome of the dice throw. Every bet or combination of bets pays out
according to the odds attached to each.
Seven different types of bets can be placed when playing in Sic Bo. They are
as follows:
1) A bet on any one of the dice numbers. If this number is rolled on any of
the dice, the bet pays at 1 to 1.
2) A bet on any combination of two dice. This pays out at 5 to 1.
3) A bet on the numerical total of all three dice, from 4 to seventeen. The
payoff depends on the combination
4) A "small"” or "big" bet. The former wins if the total of the three dice is
between four and ten. The latter wins if the total is between eleven and
seventeen.
5) A bet that a specific combination of three dice will appear - this pays at
150 to 1.
6) A bet on any triplet of dice appearing, paid at 24 to 1.
7) A bet on any pair of dice appearing, paying at 8 to 1.
