Kentucky Derby Betting Power Rankings - 04-22-09

April 22 - With so many talented three-year-old contenders set to run in this year's Kentucky Derby, it'll be hard to choose which ones to bet on. For this reason we have made life a little easier for horseracing fans all over the world by compiling the following list of top ten Power Rankings.

No. 1 is colt I Want Revenge who is trained by Jeff Mullins. Out of eight races this runner has chalked up 3 wins, 1 second and 4 third places. In his last outing, the Wood Memorial at Aqueduct Racecourse earlier this month, he showed tremendous strength and longevity to win following a very poor start.

No. 2 is colt Friesan Fire trained by Larry Jones. From seven starts he has notched up 4 wins, 1 second and 1 third place. In his most recent start, the Louisiana Derby last month at Fair Grounds Racecourse, he dominated the race from start to finish, crossing the first a resounding 7 1/4-lengths clear.

No. 3 is colt Pioneerof the Nile trained by Bob Baffert. Of his eight career races he has 5 victories and 1 third place. With champion jockey Garrett Gomez aboard, he powered home to an impressive victory in his last race, the Santa Anita Derby held earlier this month at Santa Anita Park in California.

No 4. is colt Quality Road trained by Jimmy Jerkens. In just four starts he has accrued 3 victories and 1 second place finish. With a dazzling display of strength, he managed to hold off a spirited last ditch challenge from Dunkirk to win his last race, the Florida Derby at the end of March at Gulfstream Park.

No. 5 is colt Regal Ransom trained by Saeed bin Suroor. From three career outings he has notched up 1 win and 1 second place. A talented up-and-comer from Godolphin Stable, he was simply inspiring when he won the coveted UAE Derby at the end of March in Dubai, beating well-backed Desert Party.

No. 6 is colt Papa Clem trained by Gary Stute. Out of six career races he has 2 wins and 2 second places. Following two consecutive second place finishes, he kicked it into high gear with his impressive turn of foot in his last race, the Arkansas Derby earlier this month at Oaklawn Park, to snatch the win.

No. 7 is colt General Quarters trained by Thomas McCarthy. Despite his age, he has already run eleven races resulting in 3 wins, 3 second places and 1 third place. In his last outing, the Blue Grass Stakes hosted earlier this month at Keeneland Racecourse, he held off the quick Hold Me Back for victory.

No. 8 is colt Hold Me Back trained by Bill Mott. From five races he has chalked up 3 wins and 1 second place. In his last outing, the Blue Grass Stakes earlier this month at Keeneland Racecourse, he ran a formidable race, but could not catch venerable race winner, General Quarters, settling for second.

No. 9 is colt Chocolate Candy trained by Jerry Hollendorfer. With ten races to his name, he has impressed with 4 wins, 3 second places and 1 third place. Due to a slower than usual pace in his last race, the Santa Anita Derby held earlier this month at Santa Anita Park, he could only manage a second place.

No. 10 is colt Advice trained by Todd Pletcher. Out of six starts, he has notched up 2 wins and 2 third places. He made it into our top ten Power Rankings with his truly dazzling, if unexpected, victory in his last race, the Lexington Stakes held earlier this month at Keeneland Racecourse in Kentucky.
