Lakers Magic Betting Preview for Game 1 - 06-04-09

June 4 - As the Los Angeles Lakers prepare for what should be an exhilarating showdown against the Orlando Magic Thursday in LA, both vying for a shot at the 2009 NBA Championship title, it may all come down to an awesome skills contest between the Lakers' Kobe Bryant and the Magic's Dwight Howard.

In tonight's game, the first of this season's best-of-seven NBA finals, both teams will be under enormous pressure to perform at their best and move one step closer to the NBA Championship title. However, the Lakers may feel it even more without a player on the team like Shaquille O'Neal to take up the slack.

While it serves no real purpose to relive the past in any professional sport - learn from it yes, but relive it no - who could blame the Lakers from looking back at the 2002 season, when the LA team's 'Shaq Attack' brought home the title? Nobody, that's for sure. But the question is are they good enough to do it in 2009?

That is indeed the question, and one which the Lakers and its coaches will be asking themselves. That and how 'hungry' to win the Orlando Magic are, considering that this will be the Florida team's first-ever shot at the NBA Championship title? So many questions and so few answers, but all will be revealed later today.

A couple of things are for sure though. One, all eyes will be on Bryant and Howard - Bryant received last year's MVP and helped bring his team a long way since they crumbled 0-6 to the Boston Celtics last year, while Howard recently chalked up a career playoff-high of 40 points to secure a win against Cleveland.

And two, with the NBA Championship at stake, fans of both teams should be in for some nail-biting best-of-seven NBA finals action tomorrow evening. Said Bryant, 'With a shot at our 15th NBA Championship, and we are now in a place where we didn't get the job accomplished last year. This year will be different.'

According to leading online sports betting website, Bodog, Orlando Magic will go into the game at +6 and the Los Angeles Lakers will go in at -6.
