April 22 - It didn't take long for LeBron James, known affectionately as 'King James', to put his royal seal on these NBA playoffs. James led the Cavaliers to a very easy win over the Wizards earlier today to take a 1-0 lead in the best of 7 game series. The Cavaliers covered the 5-point spread with ease in a big win. We wonder if Kobe Bryant, the other contender for the throne vacated years ago by Michael Jordan and never adequately filled since then, can respond in kind?
From a sports betting point of view LeBron James is a godsend. His tremendous solo effort spells money for you when the Cavaliers play at home. His 32 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists in game 1 of the NBA playoffs today against the Washington Wizards was an exceptional effort, and par for his season. His triple-double does remind one of the golden age of the NBA when Air Jordan made basketball the biggest sport in the country.
Kobe Bryant will have a much tougher task as he leds an undermanned Lakers squad against the mercurial Steve Nash and the Suns. The Suns are more than likely to win and Bryant's reputation as the greatest player in the NBA today might be questionable, especially if James leads the Cavs deep into the playoffs.
