November 10 - As much fun as it is to take the Mickey out of Arsenal FC and
its worry-wart manager, Arsene Wenger, there is another 'red' English Premier
League football team that seems to warrant even greater attention, and that
team is Liverpool FC which has been having a tough time of it.

Just last week we reported how Liverpool was trounced 3-1 by Fulham, a result
that sent shockwaves through the northern English city where everyone talks like
Paul McCartney. That's like reporting on a Ferrari being beaten in a quarter
mile race by a Skoda - no offense Fulham. Well maybe a little.
Yesterday (Monday, November 9) Liverpool played Birmingham, a team sitting well
below the reds in the standings, and one that Liverpool should have made
mincemeat of, but didn't. Far from it in fact. At the final whistle the score
line was 2-2 - which was great for Birmingham, not so great for the reds.
Now, as is wont to happen in the United Kingdom where football is taken more
seriously than North Korea, Iran and unaccounted plutonium, Liverpool fans are
understandably upset at their team's poor level of play. The good news is that
beleaguered Liverpool manager, Rafael Benítez may have a solution.
The manager was recently quoted as saying that Liverpool Football Club will
'take things one game at a time' as its looks to remove itself from the slump in
which it has become entangled. And it hasn't helped matters that Liverpool
players seem to be dropping like flies due to an increasing number of injuries.
The latest casualty being Liverpool's star striker, Fernando Torres who will
likely sit a few games out. Said Benítez, 'I think for the last three weeks to a
month, it's been the same. We only think about one game at a time so I can't
talk about anything else, just three points, so I won't talk about the table or
positions.'
In other news, Chelsea FC, which is currently at the top of the English Premier
League with 30 points, beat Manchester United 1-0, which is currently third in
the League with 25 points. Here are the full English Premier League Football
results from Sunday, November 8th and Monday, November 9th 2009:
- Liverpool 2-2 Birmingham
- Hull City 2-1 Stoke City
- West Ham Utd 1-2 Everton
- Wigan Athletic 1-1 Fulham
- Chelsea 1-0 Man Utd
