2006/07 Record: 6-10.

2006/07 Verdict: The Nick Saban regime proved yet again that college football and the NFL might as well be two different sports entirely in terms of a head coach's ability to win in both disciplines. Saban was a disaster for the Dolphins, and matters were not helped by Culpepper's play or that of his equally awful replacement, the bust Joey Harrington (who now gets to show exactly how limitied he is when he starts for the Falcons in 07/08). The sad aspect of all this was that the Dolphins fielded a playoff winning defense and actually should have won more games than they did, and against a brutal schedule. There is potential here, but once again the front office has made questionable hires in key positions.

2007/08 Mycapper.com Prediction: UP

We're going to predict that the Dolphins fare better than they did last season with a 6-10 SU record and the same dismal 6-10 ATS record, but they won't improve by much. This looks like a classic 8-8 team, struggling with the Bills to avoid the division's wooden spoon. A washed-up veteran in Trent Green is not much of an upgrade from the Culpepper/Harrington fiasco, although the offense should improve with Cameron at the helm. The defense remains the team's greatest strength and a lot will depend on whether the offense improves - we're inclined to give them a chance in early season games. But bear in mind that Cameron has proven nothing at this level, was a bust as a head coach at the college level, and anyone would look like an offensive guru if they had LT, Gates, and Rivers to work with against cupcake opposition. It will also come as no surprise if Green suffers yet another gruesome on-field injury in which case this team will be done.
