2010
Season
Fans of the Miami Dolphins still reminisce about the 2008/09 NFL
season, when the team from Florida finished on 11-5 to make it to
the playoffs, a far cry from the shocking 1-15 they racked up the
season before. Too bad the Dolphins have since failed to live up
to that magical season, only managing to achieve a lackluster 7-9
in both the 2009 and 2010 NFL seasons.
2011 Off Season
Judging by their 2010/11 NFL season, the Miami Dolphins needed
help offensively and defensively, and with their lack of
consistency. For instance, the Dolphins would play great in one
game and lousy in the next. Though how head coach Tony Sparano
will fix that will remain to be seen. Using the 2011 NFL Draft,
Sparano concentrated on Miami's offense, snagging the likes of OL
Mike Pouncey, RB Daniel Thomas, WR Edmond Gates and TE Charles
Clay, each of whom will be expected to help starting QB Chad Henne
do a much better job this season. Surprisingly, Sparano brought in
no new standout talent to bolster the team's ailing defense in the
off season, which could be a problem.
2011 Preview
After finishing the last two NFL seasons on a disappointing 8-9,
the Miami Dolphins need to pull up their socks this season and dig
deep if they have any hope of replicating the 2008/09 NFL season.
Offensively, coach Sparano will be hoping that his injection of
new blood courtesy of the Draft will help QB Henne fulfills his
true potential. After three seasons in the NFL, Henne is still
lacking. Sure, he may have thrown for 3,301 yards last season, but
he had a mere 15 touchdown passes compared with 19 interceptions.
If there is no improvement early on in the season, expect Sparano
to replace him with ex-Carolina QB, Matt Moore. Defensively, by
all accounts the Miami Dolphins' lineup will closely resemble that
of last season, which should ring some pretty big warning bells
amongst NFL betting fans.
2011 Prediction
Considering how the Miami Dolphins played last season and the
season before, and how they spent their time in the off season,
something is screaming that they have not yet turned the corner.
This means the Miami Dolphins may have another tough season ahead,
made no less easier being stuck in the AFC East division alongside
the New England Patriots and the New York Jets, both of whom
played great last season, and used their off seasons to superb
effect.
**Our Pick
If there was a mirror on the wall that could reveal the fairest
NFL franchise of them all, there is a better than brilliant chance
the Miami Dolphins would not feature. Considering the jury is
still out regarding Miami's starting QB and the team's defensive
lineup as a whole, do not be surprised if the Dolphins finish on
5-11, and third or even fourth in the AFC East division this
season.
