May 28 - Working together, online gambling software giant Microgaming and leading online gambling operator 888 Holdings have become the first foreign online gambling concerns to successfully submit operator applications in France.
Microgaming submitted three applications to Autorité de Régulation des Jeux En Ligne (ARJEL), France's online gambling National Regulatory Authority, two of those with 888, which operates an online casino and an online poker room.
Said Microgaming CEO, Roger Raatgever, 'We are delighted to announce that following the recent signing of a joint venture with 888 Holdings, we have combined our efforts and successfully submitted operator licenses to the ARJEL.
'This is a milestone for us and marks the beginning of our first wave of applications, which we believe will see us rapidly establishing ourselves as market leaders in France,' he said.
Based in the Isle of Man, Microgaming powers over 120 online casinos and over 40 online poker rooms. It launched its first online casino in 1994 and since then has grown into the globe's foremost online gambling software developer.
Also happy with the move into France, is 888 Holdings CEO, Gigi Levy, 'The submission of these applications marks a step towards our launch in one of the strategically important European markets. We look forward to developing the synergies of Microgaming's brand presence and 888's premium offering.'
Based in Gibraltar, 888 Holdings was launched in 1997 and has evolved into one of the world's most trusted online gambling brands. Its online casino, Casino-on-Net and poker room, Pacific Poker, are amongst the most highly frequented in the world.
