Microgaming Suspends Casino Action Group Licenses - 02-28-08

February 28 - Is this the first of the fallout predicted by the doomsayers since the hammer fell in the USA with the introduction of the UIGEA (otherwise know as the ludicrous online gambling ban)?

We don't think so. Microgaming today announced the suspension of licenses and sub-licenses held by one of the oldest independent operators - Tusk Investment Corporation / Casino Action. eCOGRA obviously had wind of this earlier, as they suspended the group's "Play it Safe" Seals last week.

What's even more confusing is that the Tusk Group issued a statement this week on one of the popular message boards, that they expected to have their eCOGRA Seals re-institated in due course. That's a long way from having your licenses suspended a few days later, so there must be more to this story.

According to our sources, most Microgaming groups are still operating very successfully, so questions will be asked as to what went wrong at Tusk. This could however be a sign that smaller operators will start to find it difficult to compete, regardless of their software platforms.

'Microgaming announces that it has terminated its software license with Tusk Investment Corporation - with immediate effect, after having received Tusk's notification of its plans to put the Company into liquidation.

Microgaming is presently gathering all facts related to this matter and will provide further announcements as and when information becomes available.'
