January 27 - Microgaming, considered to be the leading online gaming software
provider, announced in a press release that it is has signed a new licensing
agreement to develop and launch a range of Batman slots.
Under the terms of the agreement, the Isle of Man based group will create a
number of graphic rich video slot games which are based on the capricious caped
comic book crusader. According to Microgaming, the games will be made available
in countries where online gaming is permitted through online casinos working off
Microgaming's platform.
Thanks to the new agreement, Microgaming is entitled to develop new Batman
video slot games which incorporate animations, characters and themes from the
blockbuster movie, The Dark Knight, as well as its upcoming sequel, The Dark
Knight Rises.
The first The Dark Knight video slot game will be released this summer, while
the slot game based on The Dark Knight Rises is due to be launched in 2013.
The DC Comics character, Batman served as an inspiration for The Dark Knight
movie. Batman made his first appearance in 1939 in Detective Comic (DC)
publications, and has gone on to become one of the most popular comic, TV and
film superheroes in the world.
DC Comics still produces 15 monthly comic books featuring Batman which are
translated in 30 languages and read in 60 different countries. Literally
millions of fans still follow the adventures of this caped superhero.
The Dark Knight Movies Inspire Video Slots
In 2008, the first The Dark Knight movie was released and,
thanks to the popularity of Batman, became the third highest grossing film in
the United States. In total, over $1 billion was seen in box office takings

In July 2012, The Dark Knight Rises will appear in cinemas and
to celebrate its release Microgaming will release the Dark Knight slot game.
