Mikey The Chimp Lights Up Online Casino Convention - 09-15-06

September 15 - Mikey, the famous poker playing chimp that failed in his bid to challenge for a WSOP bracelet because of the organizer's lack in sense of humour, was back in Vegas this week at the Online Casino Affiliate Convention...

And needless to say, Mikey once again stole the show. There was no doubt which was the busiest booth at this years Casino Affiliate Convention (CAC). The event brings together online gambling affiliates, marketers and operators. This year's event was impacted by the reluctance of a number of large casino and poker operators to attend the show because of the recent arrests of two prominent online gambling executives

But, amidst all the concerns about the Feds descending on the show (which were totally unfounded), Mikey provided some much needed light entertainment and proved again that a monkey holds much more entertainment value than the many half naked beauties hanging around numerous booths (guys, it's Vegas, there's enough eye candy everywhere else).

The largest gathering took place when a prominent affiliate challenged Mikey to a heads up match. I have to admit that I was totally sceptical about a chimp playing poker until I saw it with my own two eyes. In a move that any pro at the Bellagio would feel proud of, Mikey came over the top after being raised and proceeded to knock off his opponent in no time at all. It followed a couple of very impressive lay downs.
